Christmas Appeal 2020
Dear Parents and Carers,
SOMERVILLE’S FOOD AND HYGIENE BANK
This year, in these very strange and unprecedented times, we as a school would like to further support our local community by asking our families to make a small donation. This is not a financial donation, but a gift of an essential item such as non-perishable food or toiletries.
Christmas can be a really difficult time for people and families, especially considering the impact of COVID-19. For those managing on a tight budget, the added expense of Christmas coupled with fuel bills, can send people into crisis- having to choose between food and fuel. As a school, we would like to support our school community by donating boxes of goodies to them.
Each class will be given a box to fill from the 16th November to the 4th December. This is so that we will have time to sort all the donations into hampers and distribute them in time for Christmas. We have put together a list to help you with ideas, and we would love it if each child could donate just one item during this time period, if you are able to.
Together, as a team, we can make a significant difference to those who may be finding it tough.
If you feel you may benefit from a food and hygiene hamper, please do not hesitate to contact the school office who can confidentially arrange for a hamper to be prepared for you.
If you are concerned that you may not be able to provide a single Christmas present for your child on Christmas Day please get in touch with us this week. The charity we use has changed the criteria this year due to Covid as there are less staff and toys to go around.
Thank you so much for your ongoing support, we really do appreciate it.
Yours Sincerely,
Mrs Parry and Miss Butt
