 About Year 4

Our theme this term is Eureka - following the history and geography of ancient Greece!

Reminders

Please ensure your child brings a water bottle to school every day.

Please label ALL clothing and belongings.

Please ensure you put sun cream on your children on sunny days.

Physical Education (PE)

Our P.E day is Monday and Tuesday, please ensure your child comes in to school on Tuesday wearing their P.E Kit. School uniform for P.E is a white t-shirt, black or navy-blue shorts and black pumps.  Your child may require something warmer to wear if the weather is colder. Please ensure that all items of kit are clearly labelled with your child’s name.  For health and safety reasons, children cannot wear jewellery for PE, so all children need to either be able to remove their earrings or they should be removed in the morning before school.

Times Tables

Children are expected to know all of their times tables up to 12x12 and associated division facts by the end of year 4. Please ensure that your children access Times Tables Rock Stars to keep their skills sharp.

Logins were given out upon our return, please ask for a copy if your child loses/forgets theirs!

Reading

Children are currently being allocated books for home reading.  Please listen to your child read out loud and record this in their diary, there is an expectation that children will read at least 3 times a week but more is okay too! As your child progresses and moves through the coloured book bands, they will come across more complex language, please discuss new vocabulary with them to support their word understanding!

Spellings

We give out spellings and test the previous week's spellings, every Friday. Your child should also have a logon to Spelling Shed which is a website that we use to help them practice these spellings. If you need any help, please just ask!

Thank you, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to speak with any of the team at the end of the day.
